Awareness on autism urged
Speakers at a discussion here yesterday stressed on disseminating basic information on autism so that the masses can have a proper concept and learn how to behave with autistic children. They called upon the government to take steps to educate parents and teachers dealing with autistic children and establish relevant institutes at district level.
Global Autism Public Health (GAPH) organised the discussion on autism with parents and professionals in the city's Chittagong Seniors Club auditorium.
Addressing as the chief guest, GAPH Bangladesh Consultant Dr Aloka Guha stressed on ensuring the civil, social, political and cultural rights of autistic children.
Chittagong Medical College Assistant Prof Dr Basana Muhuri chaired the programme where National Advisory Committee member Engineer Anowar Hossain, its Secretary Dr Mazharul Mannan, Department of Environment Director Jafor Alam and Awareness and Advocacy Task Force Sub-Committee member Dr Fahmida Islam Chowdhury also spoke.
