Death anniversary

Today is the sixth death anniversary of MM Rezaul Karim, diplomat, columnist, Rotarian and avid social worker. Karim played an active role during the War of Liberation in 1971 in the United Kingdom, where he had defected from the Pakistan high commission and galvanised support for the Bangladesh cause. He had the distinct honour of receiving Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman when the latter arrived in London in early January 1972 after his release from imprisonment in Pakistan. In post-liberation Bangladesh, Karim served the country with distinction as ambassador in a number of countries. Upon retirement, he contributed columns to newspapers on a wide range of subjects. His family members have requested all his friends and relatives to join them in their prayers for him.
