RU female student in trauma
Unable to withstand verbal abuse by two activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, a female student lost her consciousness in front of her residential hall gate at Rajshahi University on Friday.
Witnesses said the activists are Sarwar Alam Juwel, in his fourth year at mass communication and journalism department, and Belal Hossain, in his fourth year in anthropology department.
The duo were honking their motorcycle horn behind the girl around 7:00pm. When the girl protested, they started hurling abuses at her. The mentally shocked girl then lost consciousness, added witnesses.
Resident students admitted her to the university medical centre that night. The victim declined to comment.
On the contrary, the duo said they “only protested at the girl's verbal abuse” and said the girl had “heart problems”.
They, however, could not give a satisfactory answer as to what they were doing in front of the hall.
RU Proctor Choudhury Mohammad Zakaria said only after a written complaint from the victim would he take steps against the two boys.
