Huge smuggled cloth seized
Coastguard members, in a drive, seized a huge quantity of Indian sarees and fabrics worth about Tk 8 crore from the Bay of Bengal near Amtoli upazila in Barguna on Friday night.
Commander M Aminul Islam Khan said, a team of the force, chased an engine boat loaded with 56 sacks of smuggled cloth, fired nine bullets, the smugglers fled, leaving the boat.
Acting on a tip-off, they conducted the drive, the commander said.
