Awareness on population

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) yesterday inaugurated 30 public buses with paintings on population growth as part of its awareness campaign on population as the global population reaches seven billions today. The public buses, plying on Mirpur-Jatrabari and Uttara-Motijheel routes, have been pasted with paintings on risks of over population, unplanned urbanisation and family planning. UNFPA has been continuing different programmes under the awareness campaign with slogans "I am one of 7 billion" and "My future is in my hands" for last one week, said a press release. The programmes include rally, conference, signature collection from the youth and cultural functions. Youth are one-third of total population and they should understand and plan their family size. They should have proper knowledge on reproductive health and rights, UNFPA says.
