Greetings to Ivy
Different political, social and cultural organisations yesterday greeted Selina Hayat Ivy on her landslide victory in the Narayanganj City Corporation polls.
In separate press releases, they also wished that the first woman mayor would run the city corporation with honesty, integrity and transparency.
The political parties and organisations also congratulated the voters of Narayanganj who came out of their houses and voted against criminals, extortionists and land-grabbers defying fears of violence.
They said the Narayanganj people chose the candidate with a tested career in running city affairs.
They also thanked the government and the Election Commission for holding the polls peacefully amidst enthusiastic participation of voters.
Workers' Party of Bangladesh President Rashed Khan Menon, Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain, Jatiya Party Chairman Anwar Hossain Manju and its Secretary General Sheikh Shahidul Islam, and leaders of BKMEA, Narayanganj Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Municipal Association of Bangladesh, Citizen's Rights Movements, Nari Pakkho, Gono Oikya Committee, Nari Mukti Andolon and Gonotantrik League greeted Ivy on her victory.
