'Implement women dev policy'
Speakers at Rajshahi University yesterday put emphasis on the implementation of Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the women development policy 2011.
Addressing a workshop on “CEDAW and national women development policy” at Syed Ismail Hossain Siraji building on the campus, they also urged the journalists of both print and electronic media to play significant role in promoting women issue in the country.
Bangladesh Mohila Parishad, RU unit, organised the workshop to highlight some of their suggestions that include ensuring equal empowerment of women in politics and enforcement of the existing laws to stop repression of women.
RU unit Mohila Parishad president Prof Sahanara Hossain presided over the programme while general secretary Prof Mahbuba Kaniz Keya moderated it.
