Three domestic help found dead in city

Three female domestic help were found dead in their respective employers' houses at Kafrul and Uttara in the city in the last two days. Of the victims, Rehana Akhter, 16, used to work at Morsalin Rahman's house at Senapara Parbata in Kafrul. Police recovered the body around 11:00am yesterday. Quoting Rehana's employer, Sub-Inspector (SI) Shafiqul Islam of Kafrul Police Station said Rehana committed suicide hanging from a ceiling fan in the house with her scarf. The employer discovered Rehana's hanging body when he woke up around 11:00am while his wife and child were out for school, police qouted. Meanwhile, police recovered the body of Sharmin Shirin, 15, from a house at North Kafrul on Sunday night. SI Afaz Uddin of Kafrul Police Station said Sharmin's employer's family claimed that she died of diarrhoea. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Latif said they detained the housemistress, Mahmuda Begum, 40, and sent her to the court. She didn't provide treatment to Sharmin, Latif said, adding that the neighbours also informed that the girl was often tortured. Lima Akter, 14, hanged herself in a bathroom of her employer's flat at Sector # 11 in Uttara, police said. Police quoting Lima's employer Akbar Hossain, a garments trader, said they found Lima's body breaking open the bathroom door and informed the police. Police recovered the body around 10:30pm on Sunday. Lima joined the work three months back and was mentally sick, said SI Abdul Kaiyum of Uttara Police Station quoting Lima's employer.
