Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) yesterday set up a fake currency identifier machine at a cattle market in the city to keep a check on fake note usage. CCCI President Murshed Murad Ibrahim introduced the machine at Bibirhat Cattle Market through a brief ceremony around 10:30am. He urged the traders there to use the machine during monetary transactions. He said the machine was set up to keep a check on the recent spread of fake notes in the market causing panic among the traders. CCCI Senior Vice-President Mahabubul Alam also emphasised on proper utilisation of the machine. CCCI officials said the initiative was taken following an order from the commerce ministry. They would set up 10 more similar machines, placing six machines within the city's cattle markets and four outside the city.
