Hasina's 'go it alone policy' makes alliance inactive, says Inu
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been making the grand alliance's unity inactive through her “go it alone policy.” said Hasanul Haque Inu, president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, a partner of the alliance.
“Now the unity is in disorder and remains inactive. Sheikh Hasina should give up her “go it alone policy” to unite the pro-liberation forces in resisting the BNP-Jamaat's conspiracy to foil war crimes trial,” he said.
Inu told a discussion "Resist conspiracy to foil war crimes trial" organised by Eleven Party, an alliance of 11 left political parties, at Jatiya Press Club in the city yesterday.
He also demanded banning of communal politics to root out communalism and militancy in the country.
Addressing the function, Workers' Party of Bangladesh President Rashed Khan Menon called upon the government to strengthen the capacity of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) to accelerate the trial procedure.
Veteran left politician Ajoy Roy emphasised bringing all the people under a common platform to strengthen the movement for demanding trial of war crimes.
Shahriar Kabir, executive president of Ekattorer Ghatok Dalal Nirmul Committee, said the anti-liberation forces have engaged lobbyists in international arena to conduct worldwide campaign in favour of war criminals.
“But our government is yet to take any diplomatic move to counter the campaign,” he said.
Sector Commanders Forum General Secretary Harun-or-Rashid termed the ICT a “lame horse” and said it is not possible to win the race riding on the “lame horse”.
