55 kg cannabis seized

Police yesterday seized 55 kilograms of cannabis from a bus at Mirpur section 2 and arrested the driver in this connection. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the bus of 'Maer Badhan Paribahan,' which came from Brahmanbaria, and recovered the cannabis from a specially made ceiling where narcotic can be kept hidden, said the Officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirpur Police Station Kazi Wajed Ali. Only the driver Faruq Ahmed was in the bus when the police conducted the drive. Faruq told the police that they had been giving priority to carrying narcotics over passengers. He said usually the bus is used for transporting cannabis and Phensidyl from different border areas.
