Road accidents kill six

Six people were killed and 25 others injured in road accidents in Tangail, Mymensingh, Satkhira, Jamalpur and Brahmanbaria Thursday and early yesterday. Our Tangail correspondent adds: Two people were killed and 20 others injured when a Dhanbari bound bus from Dhaka fell into a roadside ditch at Gharinda in Tangail early yesterday. One of the deceased was identified as Hafizur Rahman Sajal, 30, of Kalihati upazila. Our Mymensingh correspondent reports: A Dhaka bound truck from the district crushed a cyclist, Jasim Uddin, 50, son of Joynal Abedin of Bhaluka upazila, on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Damsur yesterday noon. The victim died at Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex on arrival, police said. In Satkhira, a Khulna-bound truck knocked a gold-smith down while he was crossing Khulna-Satkhira road at Patkelghata in Tala upazila on Thursday night, police said. Dev Brata Karmokar died at Khulna Medical College Hospital. In Jamalpur, a Dhaka-bound truck fell into a ditch beside Jamalpur-Mymensingh road in Sadar upazila town area yesterday morning leaving a cow trader dead on the spot and five others injured. The deceased is Chantu Miah of Islampur upazila. Our Brahmanbaria correspondent says: A tractor driver was killed when a rice-laden truck rammed it on Brahmanbaria-Comilla road at Bhadughar in Sadar upazila on Thursday night. The victim is Md Mizan Mia, 38.
