Govt to free 113 prisoners on Eid
The government has decided to release 113 prisoners from 31 jails across the country ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.
“We have already sent necessary papers to the jails under 31 districts asking them to release 113 prisoners on the occasion of the Eid after getting home ministry's nod to it,” Assistant Inspector General (admin) of Prisons Mohammad Kamal Hossain told the news agency yesterday.
The home ministry decided to free the prisoners, who were charged with minor offences and have already served 20-year imprisonment, from jails, sources in the ministry said.
The jail authorities have already started freeing prisoners from the jails in line with the government decision.
