City to be cleaned by today

Removal and cleaning of the wastes of sacrificial animals of the Eid-ul-Azha will be completed by the mid-day today, Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) said yesterday. “We are expecting that the cleaning process will be completed by mid-day today,” DCC panel mayor Anwar Hossain told the news agency yesterday. Chief waste management official of DCC Captain Bipin Kumar Saha said around 13,000 cleaning workers are working in full sewing to remove and clean the garbage from 90 wards of the city corporation. He said 208 open trucks, 100 container vans, 100 eco-friendly garbage trucks, six pay loaders, four tier dodgers, 20 dumpers, six trailers and three prime movers are being used for the job. Besides, about 3,500 van drivers are working with the cleaning team round-the-clock to remove around 22,000 tonnes of wastes of sacrificial animals, he said.
