Narsingdi Mayor Murder

Arrest of real culprits soon: Sahara

Unb, Dhaka
Home Minister Sahara Khatun yesterday said the BNP has been “blaming the government illogically” when the government has already directed the law enforcers to arrest the real culprits involved in the killing of Narsingdi Municipality mayor Lokman Hossain. Promising Awami League leader Lokman Hossain, 35, was shot dead by masked gunmen at the district AL office on November 1. On November 3, Lokman's younger brother filed a case with Narsingdi Sadar Police Station, accusing 12 AL and two BNP leaders naming Salahuddin Ahmed Bachchu, a businessman and younger brother of Posts and Telecommunications Minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju as the main accused. BNP has blamed the government for implicating Khairul Kabir Khokon, president of Narsingdi district BNP in the killing. Khokon was arrested from his house in the city's Khilgaon area. A Narsingdi court yesterday cleared him of his suspected involvement in the killing. “We have already ordered to nab the killers soon after the Narsingdi mayor's killing,” Home Minister Sahara Khatun told reporters at her office after exchanging Eid greetings with the officers and employees of the ministry. Asked why Bachchu has not yet been arrested, she said, “The killer, even if a member of my party (Awami League), will not be spared.”
