Power crisis hinders IT services at grassroots level: Muhith
Finance Minister AMA Muhith said that lack of electricity and manpower at all 4,500 Union Information centres, is preventing IT services from reaching people at grassroots level.
“We are trying our best to solve the problems,” he said as the chief guest at the 12th founding anniversary of Sylhet Cable Systems on Friday night.
The government is considering formulating a policy on Cable Service Operation, which is expanding everyday, the minister said. However, only 25 percent of the population have access to cable system, he added.
Regarding the issue of Digital Bangladesh, Muhith said digitalising services would increase transparency and reduce corruptions at all levels. The government offices will be digitalised as soon as possible, he added.
FBCCI President AK Azad, lawmakers Syeda Zebunnesa Haque and Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, former caretaker adviser Sultana Kamal, acting city mayor Md Shahjahan were present at the programme held at the city's Hafiz Complex.
