Legal protocol to check carbon demanded
Speakers in a human chain programme in Cox's Bazar yesterday demanded a legal obligatory protocol to put a check on large scale carbon emission.
This was among the five-point demand they put forward to the United Nations (UN), industrially developed countries and the government.
Sahai Foundation, Cox's Bazar and Coast Trust jointly organised the human chain at Laboni Point marking the 'Bangladesh Climate Justice Day-2011” in association with Humanity Watch, says a press release.
The other demands included ensuring state participation in climate fund under UN supervision, exclusion of World bank in climate fund management, providing the climate induced refugees access to the developed countries and cancellation of climate disaster plan like 'Carbon trade'.
Coast Trust team leader Mokbul Ahmed, Sahai Foundation co-coordinator Mizanur Rahman Bahadur, its manager Giasuddin and its councillor Akhter Kamal spoke on the occasion.
