Tank-lorry strike in Ctg from Nov 20
Tank-lorry owners called a non-stop strike in greater Chittagong from November 20 to press home their 11-point demand including establishing a tank-lorry terminal in the port city and reducing the oil-carrying charge.
Tank-Lorry Owners and Workers Association, Chittagong called the strike Saturday night to protest the negligence in this sector said its Convener Ahmed Nabi Chowdhury.
They also urged to set up a terminal in the area adjoining to Chittagong Steel Mill, he said.
Other demands included paying the system loss for oil by oil companies, starting oil loading work by 8:00am, downloading oil from the lorry within an hour of arrival and stopping harassment of lorry workers by police, border guards and depot officials.
They also demanded implementing the decisions taken by Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation on August 30 last year to bring discipline in the sector.
