4 die in road accidents
Four people were killed and 11 others injured in road accidents in Jamalpur, Chittagong, Chapainawabganj and Narail on Monday and yesterday.
Our Jamalpur correspondent reports: A man, Khandakar Mohiuddin, 66, of Jamalpur sadar died instantly and five others were injured when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw fell into a ditch beside Jamalpur-Mymensingh road at Gopalpur Bazar of the upazila at 5:00pm on Monday.
In another accident, a man, Sohrab Ali, 65, of the same upazila, was killed and five others injured when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying them collided head-on with a Bhutbhuti (a three-wheeler) on the same area at 9:30pm on the day, police said.
In Chittagong, A man, Nurul Alam, of Boalkhali upazila, was killed when a tempo hit a CNG-run-auto-rickshaw carrying him at Chowmohani in the upazila around 10:15pm on Monday.
Our Chapainawabganj correspondent adds: Ambia Khatun, 30, wife of Shaifiqul Islam of Tanore upazila in Rajshahi, was run over by a bus after she fell onto the road from a Bhutbhuti at Prantikpara in the town around 10:30am yesterday, said police.
In Narail, an old man, Lukman Bhuiyan, of Lohagara upazila, was injured as a bus hit his bicycle on Kalna-Narail Highway at Soratola in the upazila around 2:00pm yesterday, said local people.
He was taken to Narail Sadar Hospital with critical condition.
