Hearing on charges against SQ Chy tomorrow
The International Crimes Tribunal will fix a date tomorrow for hearing the charges submitted against BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.
The Court made the decision as Mezbahuddin Ahmed, deputy registrar of the tribunal, placed formal charges against Salauddin before it yesterday.
The tribunal will examine relevant papers during this time, Mezbahuddin told The Daily Star.
On Monday, prosecutors submitted formal charges against the detained BNP leader to the tribunal, citing his involvement in 24 incidents of crime against humanity.
They told the court that Salauddin had been directly and indirectly involved in crimes including genocide, rape and abduction.
Mukhlesur Rahman Badal, a prosecutor, said, after taking the charges into cognisance, the tribunal will start the trial.
