Two killed in road accidents
Two people were killed in separate road accidents in Khulna and Rangpur from early Wednesday to yesterday.
Staff correspondent from Khulna reports: A motorcyclist identified as Mantu Gazi, 40, was killed when Rupsha bound town service bus ran over his bike near Tootpara graveyard in Khulna sadar around 12:00 noon yesterday.
The bus driver and helper managed to escape. Police seized the bus.
Our Rangpur correspondent reports: An old man Azhar Ali, of Jhoragach Uttorpara village under Mithapukur upazila was critically injured as a Rangpur bound bus from Bogra hit his bicycle carrying him in front of Shapla Cold Storage on Rangpur-Dhaka Highway in Mithapukur upazila Wednesday evening, said witnesses and police.
He succumbed to his injuries on the way to Rangpur Medical Collage Hospital.
Mithapukur Police Station Officer- in-Charge Arman Hossain said the body was handed over to his family on request without autopsy and no case was filed.
