All playgrounds now freed: DCC

Bss, Dhaka
The eviction drive launched by Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) has freed the capital's playgrounds illegally occupied by the influential quarters. The eviction drive came after an instruction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last year practicing sports and games of the children. “The illegal occupants as well as illegal structures have been removed from all the 11 playgrounds of Dhaka city in a drive,” DCC Estate Officer Md Golum Rahman Mia told the news agency. "Despite pressure from a section of influential quarter to some extent and with limited manpower, our eviction drive still continues" the DCC official said. DCC has 11 playgrounds on a total 27.7069 acres of land while it has 49 parks, according to the officials. The DCC playgrounds are: Dhopkhola field at Golapbagh, Muktijoddha Sadek Hossain Khoka field at Begumganj, Bangladesh field at Agasadek Lane, Khilgaon playground, Lalbagh Swashanghat field at Rajnarayangarh Road, Killar More playground at Rajnarayangarh, Dhanmondi playground at Mirpur Road, Kalabagan playground at Beer Uttam Khaled Mosharraf Road (Mirpur Road), Banani playground (adjacent to lake), Eastern part of Sadek Hossain Khoka field at Narinda.
