Fog delays ferry service for 9 hrs
Low visibility due to dense fog disrupted ferry service on Paturia-Daulatdia route for nine hours yesterday, said official sources.
Five ferries, Khanjahan Ali, Keramat Ali, Amanat Shah, Bir Shrestha Motiur Rahman and Kumery, were forced to anchor mid-river around 12:15am, said Ashraf Ullah Khan, BIWTC Paturia office manager (commerce).Ferry service resumed at 9:00am when the fog cleared, he said.
Thousands of passengers suffered due to the delay as around 400 vehicles were seen queued at Daulatdia terminal while another 300 was seen at Paturia terminal at 9:00am.
