Aiming to inspire students to improve their proficiency in English, the English Language Fair, an initiative of Robi and The Daily Star, was held in two secondary schools of Kawkhali upazila in Pirojpur district yesterday. Over 150 students of Government KG Union High School and SB Government Girls' High School participated in the fair. Headmaster Jahangir Hossain Faruque and English teacher Shirin Afroj of the respective schools were present. A movie was screened at the fair and students took part in spot quiz on vocabulary, one word question, extempore speech, etiquette test and competition for describing pictures. They also entertained the audience by reciting poems, telling jokes and singing songs. Prizes were awarded to the event winners and an English language club was formed.
