Cooperative markets across country soon

State Minister for LGRD and cooperatives Jahangir Kabir Nanak said the government has taken an initiative to set up samabaya bazaar, a kind of cooperative market, throughout the country under the Department of Co-operatives (DoC). Under the initiative, the government will set up samabaya bazaar at each of the ward in the capital during the current fiscal year and subsequently at every upazila throughout the country, he said at a meet-the press at Cirdap auditorium in the city yesterday on the eve of the 40th National Co- operative Day to be observed today. “The government already has set up 80 samabaya bazaar in different places including the capital city Dhaka and will extend those to the upazila level within the current fiscal year”, Nanak said, adding that with the directives of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the samabaya bazaar would also be set up in all the city corporation areas. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Rural Development and Cooperative Fairs throughout the country and also inaugurate 'cooperative bazaar exchange' through a video conference as the chief guest from the Bangabandhu International conference centre (BICC) today marking the 40th national cooperative day. The main theme of the 40th National Cooperative Day is “Creation of cooperative entrepreneurs is the farsightedness of the youths (Samabaya uddokta sristee-Juboder durodristy).
