<i>Youth slaughtered over love affair </i>
A youth was slaughtered over love affair at Rajobpara village in Aditmari upazila yesterday.
The victim was identified as Jalodhar Chandra Roy, 30, son of Premanando Roy of the upazila's Uttor Gobdha village.
Quoting local people, Aditmari Police Station OC Abdul Mannan, said the youth was involved in an affair with Rumi Akhter, 18, daughter of Mamotaz Uddin of Rajobpara village.
On Thursday night, when the youth went to meet Rumi at her village house, her family members confined him and called the village arbitration, said police.
Mohishkhocha UP member Abdul Mozid alias Hosot Miah said as the boy and the girl admitted to love affair, the arbitration decided to get them married after Jumma prayers yesterday.
But the youth was found slaughtered outside Rumi's house around 11:30am while Rumi and her family members were at large, said police.
When asked, Abdul Mozid and the ward's village police member Moslem Uddin failed to identify the youth despite being present at the arbitration.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The victim's father is preparing to file a murder case in this regard.
