'Put Col Taher in textbooks'

Discussants at a programme yesterday urged the government to incorporate Col Abu Taher's life in textbooks to spread the freedom fighter's ideology. They also demanded implementation of High Court directions to treat Col Taher as a martyr and patriot and amend relevant records to that effect and declaration of July 21 as "Freedom Fighter Killing Day". The programme tilted "Taher Mela" organised by Col Taher Sangshad at TSC on Dhaka University campus was inaugurated by freedom fighter Enayet Hossain Bir Protik marking the 73rd birth anniversary of Taher. Former justice Golam Rabbani, constitution expert Shahdin Malik, Rashed Khan Menon MP, Communist Party Presidium Member Haider Akbar Khan Rono and Taher's brother Prof Anwar Hossain also spoke.
