Oust govt to protect country: BNP
BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said if the Awami League-led government remains in power any longer, the existence of the nation would be in perils.
“Our responsibility is to protect the country by ousting this government. Tougher movement was called by Khaleda Zia to protect the nation from the misrule of Awami League that has ruined economy,” said the BNP leader while addressing a discussion meeting marking the 47th birth anniversary of the party's senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman at the Institute of Diploma Engineers yesterday.
Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain alleged that the government is trying to convict Tarique Rahman by using hired foreign witness in the money laundering case against him.
Alleging the government's failure in all sectors, he said a situation of political unrest has been created to return to power again by holding farcical election under the present government.
MK Anwar said country's independence is under threat under due to misrule of the present government.
Barrister Moudud Ahmed questioned why Tarique Rahman could not become prime minister if Sheikh Hasina, accused in 14 cases, became the prime minister.
Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, Mirza Abbas, Professor Emaj Uddin Ahmed, Nazrul Islam Khan, Abdullah Al Noman, Begum Selima Rahman, Shamsuzzaman Dudu and Shawkat Mahmud also spoke.
