Begum Zainab Hashem
Begum Zainab Hashem, mother of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hasan Mahmud Khandaker, died of old-age complications at the city's United Hospital early yesterday at the age of 80.
She left her behind two sons, three daughters and a host of relatives to mourn her death.
She was buried at the city's Banani graveyard followed by a namaz-e-janaza at Rajarbag Police Lines Central Jame Mosque after Asr prayers, a press release from police headquarters said.
Her qulkhwani will be held at 6 Mintoo Road, Police Bhaban, in the city after Maghrib prayers on November 21.
Prime minister's Public Administration Adviser HT Imam expressed deep shock at her death.
