Huda claims to be BNP Dhaka unit president
Claiming to be the central vice-chairman and legitimate president of BNP Dhaka district unit, BNP leader Nazmul Huda yesterday alleged that some party leaders are lobbying against him within the party.
Huda was expelled from BNP on November 21, 2010 but his primary membership was reinstated on April 6, 2011.
However, on November 23, 2010, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia appointed former state minister Abdul Mannan as the Dhaka unit president.
Huda, also a former minister, at a press briefing yesterday, said, “I had lost those two posts when the party relieved me from the party's primary membership. I was reinstated in these posts since I got my membership back.”
He also criticised the role of late secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain and BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed for creating confusion about his posts.
On the contrary, Abdul Mannan said he is still the legal Dhaka unit president. “He (Huda) misinterpreted the matter which is nothing but an anti-organisational activity,” he said.
He also said he is receiving letters from the party as the Dhaka unit president.
