Train derails in Rajshahi
The train communication remained suspended from and toward Rajshahi for five hours yesterday as a locomotive of an oil carrying train at Harian Railway Station derailed early in the morning.
Movement of eight trains, including intercity trains Silkcity, Titumir, Sagardari, Madhumoti and Mahananda, were delayed following the derailment causing sufferings for hundreds of the passengers.
The engine of the Rajshahi-bound oil tanker train reached the station from Iswardi around 5:30am and the accident occurred when the engine was changing track for joining another oil tanker train waiting at the station.
The rail communication resumed at 11:30am after the derailed engine was removed.
Abdul Jabbar, general member of Bangladesh Railway, west zone, said the accident occurred due to the concerned point man's negligence and the point man Abdus Salam was removed.
