Fresh Admission Test
HC order on DU decision today
The High Court will pass an order on a writ petition that challenges the Dhaka University authorities' decision to cancel the result of 'Ga' unit (business studies faculty) admission test and hold a fresh test.
Twelve candidates, who qualified the admission test, filed the petition yesterday seeking HC directives on the DU authorities to continue admission process on the basis of the result, which has already been published.
'Ga' unit admission test for 2011-12 session was held on October 28 and the result was published on October 31.
Following a wide range of criticism from different quarters over publishing the result of the admission test by counting a number of “incorrect answers” as correct, the university administration re-examined the answer sheets and published a fresh result on November 2.
As the crisis did not end, the university administration on Monday finally decided to enroll students in the first year honours programme under the business studies faculty by holding a fresh admission test on December 9.
After concluding hearing on the petition, the HC bench of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Justice Jahangir Hossain yesterday said it would pass an order on the petition today.
Advocate Manzill Musrhid appeared for the petitioners, Advocate AFM Mesbahuddin for the DU authorities, and Additional Attorney General MK Rahman for the government.
