Padma graft allegations politically motivated

Says HT Imam
Staff Correspondent
Public Administration Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister HT Imam yesterday said allegations by the World Bank against the communications minister about corruption in Padma Bridge is politically motivated, reports private TV channel ATN Bangla. He said the statement of the World Bank is not a "gospel truth". The allegation may be raised to gain political mileage or misunderstanding between it and the government. When the government will clarify everything, they cannot talk about any corruption, said Imam. He made the remark at a workshop on Role of e-Governance, organised by Press Information Department at a hotel in the city. The government employees are harassed through bringing allegations against them sometimes while they are going to do any development work, Imam told journalists. Asked why the Anti-Corruption Commission needs to take permission of the government for filing case against its employees, he said it is true that if the government takes authority in its hand, the commission may fall in difficulty.
