New US envoy keen to expand ties
The newly appointed US Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan Mozena presented his credentials to President Zillur Rahman at Bangabhaban yesterday.
Ambassador Mozena conveyed to the president his intention to broaden, deepen and strengthen the bilateral relationship between the United States and Bangladesh, said a press release.
The ambassador emphasised that a strong US-Bangladesh relationship is in the interests of the American and Bangladeshi people, as well as the regional and global company.
“Bangladesh matters to the United States. Today, on the American holiday we call Thanksgiving, I feel grateful for the opportunity to return to Bangladesh and to continue the important work of promoting a peaceful, secure, prosperous, healthy and democratic Bangladesh for all its people, now and into the future,” he said after the ceremony at the Presidential Palace.
Ambassador Mozena arrived in Dhaka on November 19, 2011. He previously served in Bangladesh as Political and Economic Counsellor from 1998 to 2001.
