2 boys held for hacking SC website
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two youths from Chittagong and Sylhet yesterday on charge of hacking the official website of the Supreme Court (SC) on November 11.
The youths are HSC examinee Shah Mizanur Rahman alias Raihan, 18, son of Shah Obaidur Rahman of Madhupur village at Bahubal upazila in Habiganj, and SSC examinee Mohammad Russell Bhuiyan, 16, son of Abdul Kuddus of Gazipur village at Burichang upazila in Comilla.
Director of Rab Legal and Media wing Commander M Sohail said, during primary interrogation, the two admitted to their involvement with the website hacking.
The detainees did the hacking as part of their adventure using computer and internet technologies, he said.
“Russell and Raihan were friends through internet networking and they never met each other face to face before the arrest,” he added.
Meanwhile, a SC official yesterday filed a case with Shahabag Police Station against the two in this connection. They were shown arrested in the case under Cyber Crimes Act.
Previously, 20 district websites operated by the Prime Minister's Office were hacked on March 20. Besides, the official websites of Rab, Bangladesh Army and several other government agencies were also hacked at different times.
