English language fair in Ctg creates eagerness
An English language fair, jointly organised by The Daily Star and Robi, was held in Chittagong and Pirojpur districts yesterday.
The fair was organised with an aim to improve English proficiency of young learners of the secondary schools across the country.
The fair took off at Bakalia Government Laboratory High School in the port city with the participation of around 130 students of the school, our correspondent reports.
Inaugurating the programme as the chief guest, the school head teacher M Faridul Alam said this kind of initiative plays a significant role to create eagerness towards learning English.
The fair started with the screening of an animation movie “The Lion King”.
At the fair, students participated in many competitions and activities of learning English, including vocabulary test, extempore speech, quiz competition and role play.
An English language club was also formed at the fair. Prizes were distributed among the students at the programme's end.
Our Barisal correspondent adds: the same fair was arranged at Sirajul Haque Government High School in Najirpur upazila of Pirojpur.
More than 150 students of the school took part in the fair.
The school headmaster Khandakar Fazle Golam attended the event as the chief guest.
The fair is being arranged at 300 schools across the country. The education ministry is coordinating the event and Adcomm Ltd is the event partner.
