Scrap iron, oil recovered in Ctg
Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) recovered 7,500 kg of scrap iron, 800 litres of oil and three engine-run boats worth about Tk 12 lakh 44 thousand in separate drives in the port city early hours of yesterday.
A patrol team of BCG recovered 7,500 kg of scrap iron worth about Tk 3 lakh around 1:00am from two engine-run boats from Dangarchar area under Karnaphuli Police Station. The values of the two engine-run boats were about Tk 8 lakh, said a press release of BCG.
In another drive, Coast Guard men recovered 720 litres of diesel, 50 litres of crude palm oil and 30 litres of lubricant along with an engine-run boat worth about Tk 1 lakh 44 thousand from Bangla Bazar Ghat area under Double Mooring Police Station around 2:30am, the release added.
Sensing the presence of the Coast Guard men, the smugglers fled the scene leaving the valuables.
