4 jailed for producing adulterated foods
A mobile court yesterday sentenced four bakery workers to seven-month imprisonment each and sealed off the bakery in Mouchak area in the city for producing, preserving, and marketing adulterated biscuits and cakes without having BSTI licence.
The convicted are Masum Chowdhury, 28, Mohammad Milon, 20, Mohamamd Kamal Hossen, 21, and Rubel, 20, of Ahad Bakery at Siddheshwari.
The court led by Executive Magistrate Shakil Ahmed also fined Siam Hotel Manager Parvez Bhuiyan Tk 5,000 in the area for preserving and presenting foods in dirty environment, said a press release.
Earlier, the court had sentenced Apu Khan, manager of Ahad Bakery, to eight months jail on same charge.
