Boycott city polls

Comilla BNP asks, people party men
A Correspondent, Comilla
Comilla district BNP leaders yesterday urged the party men and Comilla people as well to shun the upcoming city corporation election. The party call came on the excuse of voiding EVM system, not deployment of Army and what they said unfriendly attitude of the election commission. General Secretary of the district BNP Amin-Ur-Rashid informed the media men at a briefing organised by Comilla South BNP at his house at 11:00am. Whether the councilor aspirants are also going to boycott the poll, he said the party will wait until December 14, the last day for withdrawing nomination. However, the party men are split into two over the issue; one led by general secretary Amin-Ur-Rashid while the other led by joint general secretary Munirul Haque. Amin favours the party decision of boycotting the poll, while Munirul will contest the poll with people's mandate.
