RU students' unique campaign for Cox's Bazar, Sundarbans
It was a different scene on Rajshahi University (RU) campus yesterday as a group of students from Computer Science and Engineering Department were sitting on the central library premises with six computers having Internet connection.
They were asking passers-by about their e-mail address, and if anyone did not have, he was requested to open an account and vote for Cox's Bazar and the Sundarbans that are now holding number one and two positions in the world ranking for nomination as seven natural wonders of the world.
Computer science teachers Dr Shamim Ahmed and Iqbal Aziz took initiative for the three-day campaign and the department students are encouraging RU students to vote for Cox's Bazar and Sundarbans at www.natural7wonders.com so that they can hold their top positions.
"We feel very encouraged as we got huge response from people today. If we get support from any organisation, we will continue our campaign throughout the year," said Azmir Hossain and Tareak, third year students of computer science.
"It is a part of our social responsibility and we want to do something for our country," they said.
