Khulna jute workers turn against 'corrupt' CBA leaders
Workers of state-owned jute mills in Khulna-Jessore industrial belt are now making preparations to launch movement against 'corrupt' CBA leaders and officials.
They will fix up a programme in a week to track down the CBA leaders and officials whose 'corruption' made the jute mills losing enterprises.
Workers observed a three-hour work abstention in Star Jute Mills on Thursday.
Workers raised slogans when CBA president Abdus Sattar and general secretary Md Anisur Rahman entered the mill.
They refrained from work from 12 noon to 3:00pm. Workers resumed their duties after CBA leaders got out of mill premises.
Later, workers held a rally where they warned of dire consequences if two CBA leaders are allowed to enter the mill.
Platinum Jute Mills workers also held a rally on the mill compound yesterday afternoon in protest against 'corruption' of CBA leaders and a group of officials of the management.
Star Jute Mills CBA president Abdus Sattar, on the other hand, said Casual workers Action Committee convenor Shahidul Islam Giash is a 'financial beneficiary' of corrupt BJMC officials of Khulna Zonal office, who are working to 'sabotage' workers' movement by creating agitation against the CBA leaders.
