Robber lynched in Mymensingh
Angry villagers lynched an unidentified robber when a gang was fleeing after committing robbery at village Golabaria in Gafargaon upazila in the early hours of yesterday.
Five inmates were injured in attacks unleashed by a gang of robbers.
The gang of robbers had entered the house of Hedayet Ullah at dead of night and looted gold ornaments and valuables worth about Tk two lakh and 50 thousand, police and locals said.
When the robbers were fleeing the scene, the inmates raised a huge and cry. Locals rushed to the spot and caught one of the gang red-handed and beat him mercilessly, killing him on the spot. The robber, aged about 32, could not be identified.
During the half an hour-long robbery, five inmates of the house were injured, two critically. Of them Hedayet Ullah was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital while his brother Babul Miah was admitted to Gafargoan Upazila Health Complex.
