The Ministry of Health has suspended three doctors at Jhenidah Sadar Hospital on charge of wrong treatment that caused the death of ten-year-old boy Akash. On Wednesday, the ministry ordered suspension of resident medical officer Dr Swapan Kumar Kundo, emergency medical officer Dr Rezaul Islam and child specialist Dr Khalekuzzaman. Akash, who was admitted to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital on May 6 in 2007, was diagnosed with typhoid, Akash's father Rezaul Karim said. But following negligence of duty and wrong treatment by doctors and nurses there, his son died at 11:30 on May 9. Rezaul Islam filed a case against the three doctors and nurses Nurjahan and Putul Rani with Jhenidah court on May 30 in 2007, he said. Now that the three doctors have been suspended eight months after his filing a case with Jhenidah court, he expects their proper trial, he told The Daily Star. Contacted, Civil Surgeon Dr Niranjon Shikdar of Jhenidah said the three doctors have been suspended following the order of Ministry of Health.
