'Preserve FFs' quota in jobs, foil Jamaat-Shibir plot'
Leaders and activists of different socio-political organisations and freedom fighters in Kalaroa upazila in a joint statement yesterday urged the caretaker government to ensure preservation of freedom fighters' quota in all job sectors including Bangladesh Civil Service.
Islami Chhatra Shibir, student front of anti-liberation force Jamaat-e-Islami, is hatching conspiracy to abolish freedom fighters' quota in all job sectors and for this purpose they are using the emotion of general students, they said.
They called upon all to be united to foil the conspiracy to abolish freedom fighters' quota in all job sectors.
A section of students under the banner of “general students” who are demanding abolition of freedom fighters' quota are actually led by Shibir, they said.
“When the people in the country are united to press the government for trial of the war criminals, the anti-liberation force Jamaat-Shibir are raising the issue to abolish freedom fighters' quota system only to divert the attention from the movement launched by pro-liberation forces.”
It is a direct attack on the freedom fighters and pro-liberation forces to foil the ongoing movement against the anti-liberation forces, they said.
They demanded immediate trial of the war criminals.
Signatories to the statement are Muktijodhha Sangsad Kalaroa upazila unit commander Abdul Gaffar and deputy commander SM Habibur Rahman, former upazila unit commanders Abdur Rouf and Golam Mostafa and former deputy commander Shawkat Ali, freedom fighters Moslem Uddin, Abul Hossain, Syed Ali, Abdur Razzak, Ebad Ali Master, Samsur Rahman, Kawsar Ali and Amanullah Khan, upazila Awami League convenor Sajedur Rahman Khan Chowdhury and joint convenor Firoj Ahmed Swapan, upazila Workers Party leaders Abdur Rouf and Mizanur Rahman, Prof Abul Khair, Akbar Ali, Abdul Jabbar, Lutfor Rahman, AZ Nazrul Islam, Golam Quddus and others.
