<i>Puja mandop</i> demanded on RU campus
Speakers at a discussion on the occasion of Saraswati Puja yesterday urged the Rajshahi University authorities to immediately construct a full-fledged puja mandop on the premises of Motiher Hall to facilitate teachers, students and staff belonging to Hindu community worship.
RU Saraswati Puja Utsab Udjapan Committee set up a mandop to worship god Saraswati on the premises of Motiher Hall and organised the discussion.
RU Vice Chancellor Prof Altaf Hossain was present as chief guest at the programme while Saraswati Puja Utsab Udjapan Committee President Prof Dr Biswanath Sikder presided.
Assistant Indian High Commissioner Anjan Kumar Chakrabarti and Prof Anando Kumar Saha were present as the main speakers on the occasion.
Both males and females, draped in colourful dresses, came out on the campus from the RU halls and elsewhere to celebrate Saraswati Puja.
Most of the educational institutions in Rajshahi city were in a festive mood yesterday as colourfully decorated and illuminated puja mandops attracted hundreds of people irrespective of religion.
