Trial resumes tomorrow, five accused JMB men yet to be netted
Five out of 19 charge-sheeted accused in August 17 serial blasts cases are yet to be netted though trial of the cases is expected to resume here tomorrow (February 14).
Earlier on January 3, Judge Mahbubul Alam of Additional Sessions Judge's court at Satkhira, fixed February 14 for recording statement of witnesses as they did not appear before the court on that day.
The absconding charge sheeted accused are Montaz alias Momtaz, Abul Khair, Fakar Uddin, Nayeem and Syed alias Asaduzzaman.
They went into hiding soon after the serial blasts in the town, police said.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar police station Abdul Kader Beg said they are trying to net the absconding accused.
The charge-sheeted accused now in jail are Nasir Uddin Dafadar, Monwar Hossain Ujjal, Maniruzzaman Munna, Nur Ali Member, Anisur Rahman Khokon, Gias Uddin, Mahbubur Rahman Liton, Billal Hossain, Asadul Haque, Ismail alias Habibur, and Rakib Hasan alias Russel.
Police filed the five cases with Sadar police station soon after the blasts in the town on August 17, 2005.
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) submitted charge sheet against 19 people on April 4, 2006. The charge-sheeted accused included JMB chief Shaeikh Abdur Rahman, its 'military commander' Ataur Rahman Sunny and JMJB (Jagrata Muslim Janata, Bangladesh) chief Siddiqul Islam Bangla Bhai.
Meanwhile, names of Shaikh Abdur Rahman, Ataur Rahman Sunny and Siddiqul Islam Bangla Bhai have been dropped from the charge sheet as they were executed.
