EU mission talks CHT issues in Rangamati
A eleven-member high profile mission of European Union (EU) now on a three-day tour of CHT visited different areas of Rangamati yesterday and talked to public representatives and officials on different issues.
The mission reached Rangamati on Monday to observe the current situation, implementation of CHT peace accord, voter registration and also to see implementation of different development projects under United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP) in the hills.
The team members at a meeting exchanged opinion with local public representatives, political leaders and officials on CHT issues. It was held at the conference room of CHT Regional Council (CHTRC).
Member of the team are Soven Austbarge of Swedish embassy, German ambassador Frank Maik, Denmark ambassador Nathalia Fainburge, Norway ambassador Inzebjorge Stofring, Freize Maijy Dart of Netherlands embassy, British High Commissioner Anwar Chowdhury, EU ambassador Stephen Froin, UNDP resident representative Renetaluk Desalin, EU observer Charlage Eutheli, Febrizo Phensi and UNDP representative in Bangladesh Aothar Dal.
Santu Larma, chairman of CHTRC, chairman in-charge and member of Rangamati Hill District Council Bihari Ranjan Chakma, Deputy Commissioner Md Nurul Amin, CHTRC member Goutam Kumar Chakma, its chief executive officer Sukriti Ranjan Chakma and civil society leaders attended the meeting.
The mission will visit healthcare projects being jointly implemented by Rangamati Hill District Council and UNDP and other projects of UNDP at Suvalong of Barkal upazila today (Wednesday). They will leave Rangamati for Dhaka this evening, sources said.
