Agri official held for fertiliser racket
Army on Monday night arrested three persons including a sub-assistant agriculture officer for selling fertiliser in black market.
Tipped off, an Army team led by Major Jahangir raided the shop of fertiliser dealer Sudev Chowdhury at Tulshighat Bazar and arrested salesman Readul Islam Rimon and Ruhul Amin on charge of black marketing fertiliser allocated for the Boro farmers of Shahpara union.
Another person involved in the act, Abdul Jalil, however managed to flee while shop owner Sudev Chowdhury was not available.
The army team also arrested Shahpara union Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer Anisur Rahman for involvement in misusing fertiliser that the government allocated for the Boro farmers of the union.
The district administration cancelled the dealership of Sudev Chowdury, owner of Bhai Bhai Traders, following the allegation of flouting government rules by selling fertiliser at higher price.
