Case Against Jmb Chief's Wife
Warrant against 5 PWs to appear before court
A court in Sylhet yesterday issued warrants against five prosecution witnesses (PW) in the case against hanged JMB chief Shaikh Abdur Rahman's wife, daughter and other accomplices, filed under the Explosives Act.
Sylhet Additional District and Sessions Judge Ferdous Ahmed passed the order as deposition in the case could not be recorded because none of the prosecution witnesses turned up yesterday.
However, all the accused including Shaikh's wife were on the dock.
The PWs are, complainant of the case the then Sub Inspector of Sylhet Kotwali police station Wali Ullah, residents of the city's Shaplabag area Shahin Ahmed, Tuhin Ahmed, Abdul Quader and Shamsul Islam Mithu. The judge fixed 4 March for deposition.
Mainul Haque, caretaker of the house-Surjodighol bari- from where Abdur Rahman and his family were arrested, and a resident of the area Zainal Abedin gave their depositions on January 23. With them deposition of 8 PWs out of 36 were recorded in both the cases.
