Three more prosecution witnesses in five cases for August 17 series bomb blast cases gave statements before a Satkhira court yesterday in presence of 11 out of 19 charge-sheeted accused. Judge Mahbubul Alam of the Additional Sessions Judge's Court at Satkhira recorded the statements of the three prosecution witnesses and the court fixed February 26 for next hearing of the cases. The witnesses are Sub-inspector (SI) AK Nazibul Islam, Habibur Rahman and the lone eyewitness of the case pickpocket Rawshan Ali. Trial of the five August 17 blasts cases began with deposition of the complainants of the cases SI Jasim Uddin, SI Abu Taher and SI Hazrat Ali of Sadar Police Station on February 14. Soon after the series blasts in the town on August 17 in 2005, police filed the five cases with Sadar Police Station. The investigation officer of the cases, Assistant Superintendent of Police Munshi Atiqur Rahman of the Criminal Investigation Department submitted on April 4 in 2006 charge sheet against 19 people including executed JMB chief Shaikh Abdur Rahman, JMJB chief Siddiqul Islam Bangla Bhai and JMB military commander Ataur Rahman Sunny.
